Edictum in a nutshell

Edictum is a Vienna-based vinyl DJ and producer active since 2002, known for a distinctive sense of melodic, emotional, cinematic and groove-driven soundscapes. At the heart of his artistic approach lies storytelling: music as a journey, a carefully shaped arc of tension, and an invitation into self-contained worlds. This perspective informs both his DJ sets and his productions - from long, progressively built sets that move fluidly across genres, to conceptual albums in his signature hybrid style of Progressive House and 80s Synthwave, often extending into worldbuilding and, at times, even graphic novels.

As chemist and culturally curious explorer, Edictum approaches music as a field of discovery, constantly searching for new atmospheres, structures and narrative spaces. He draws on nearly 25 years of DJ experience and countless gigs across almost every corner of electronic music. Over the years, he has played a significant part of Vienna’s club circuit, including venues such as Flex, Arena, Loft and Kramladen. While he has a particular affinity for all-night sets, Edictum feels equally at home at any time slot, adapting his sound with precision to the room, the audience and the moment without ever drifting into the generic.

Edictum’s unmistakable musical signature has also earned him international recognition. With millions of streams, more than 200 releases  (many of them on renowned platforms such as the iconic NewRetroWave label) and dozens of collaborations with artists including Powernerd, Turbo Knight and Jan Johnston, he has established a firm presence within the global electronic music scene.

Currently, Edictum is working alongside the Birdhouse collective to help build a Progressive House scene in Vienna. In parallel, he continues to refine his sound through weekly vinyl gigs, productions for international labels within the genre, and his own label, Echoes of Expanse — with a clear focus on club- and DJ-oriented music that still leaves space for emotion, depth and narrative scope.
